The 5-minute daily log routine

Back to guidance

A consistent, short routine makes your log faster to keep and easier to trust later.

Pick a daily moment Set a reminder after bedtime or right after exchanges so logging becomes part of your routine.

Use the same prompts

  • Exchanges and timing
  • Meals and routines
  • Notable moments (positive or challenging)
  • Follow-ups or questions for tomorrow

Keep it short Three to five lines is enough. Add detail only when something truly needs it.

Review weekly A quick scan helps you spot patterns and keeps the habit going.

Sample entry Date and time. Exchange was on time. Dinner at home, bedtime at 8:15. Child was upset after homework but settled after reading. Follow up on school note.

Try the routine

Keep the four-item routine in MyParentingLog.

One open prompt captures everything. We turn it into the same structured fields each day so your log stays consistent over months.
